What You’ll Do:
- Design and develop structural components for all products for exponent, considering weight optimization, manufacturability, and performance requirements.
- Conduct detailed structural analyses and simulations using computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools to ensure the structural integrity and safety of battery packs under various loading conditions.
- Evaluate and select appropriate adhesive materials and bonding techniques for joining structural components, taking into account factors such as strength, durability, thermal performance, and cost.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to drive innovation in adhesive structures, exploring new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance battery pack performance and reliability.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to provide technical support and guidance during the production process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct physical testing and validation of adhesive structures, analysing test data and providing recommendations for design improvements.
- Collaborate with external partners, such as material suppliers or research institutions, to stay updated on the latest advancements in adhesive technologies and leverage their expertise for continuous improvement.
- Support the documentation process by preparing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of structural designs with electrical and thermal management systems.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to battery pack structural design and adhesive structures.
What’s needed:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably in the automotive or battery pack manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of structural engineering principles, theories, and practices.
- Expertise in adhesive structures and bonding techniques, including selection of adhesive materials, surface preparation, and joint design.
- Proficiency in using CAE tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) software for structural simulations.
- Experience with structural analysis software and CAD software
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and analytically.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- The detail-oriented mind-set with a focus on quality and precision in design work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
