A Production Planning Manager is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the manufacturing process to ensure that products are produced on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
Production Scheduling
- Develop and maintain master production schedules based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and customer orders.
- Align production plans with material availability and resource capacity.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to minimize delays or excess stock.
Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams.
Capacity Planning
- Analyze plant and labor capacity to meet production goals.
- Plan for peak demands or downtime.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Communicate with sales, operations, and quality assurance teams.
- Resolve conflicts in schedules or delays.
Process Creation and Optimization
- Gap-analysis and bridge the gaps.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to reduce waste and increase throughput.
Reporting & KPI Monitoring
- Run production planning meetings and Monthly meetings.
- Track metrics such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, inventory turnover, and downtime.
- Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly production reports.
