Job Description

  • We are seeking a Senior Linux Administrator with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in Linux administration and application support.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Linux systems, ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Provide support for Linux-based applications, resolving issues and ensuring smooth operation.
  • Oversee lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, and decommissioning of systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation and diagrams of systems and environments.
  • Implement and manage monitoring solutions to ensure system health and automate maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate and manage change processes, ensuring adherence to protocols and minimizing disruptions.
  • Perform day-to-day Linux administration tasks, ensuring systems are running efficiently.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related hardware.
  • Assist application and support teams with troubleshooting issues and gathering information.
  • Provide technical support for Linux-based applications and services.
  • Handle system patching, updates, and upgrades to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date.
  • Plan and execute lifecycle activities, including new deployments and system retirements.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automating system tasks and improving efficiency.
  • Automate alerting and maintenance tasks to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Document and diagram individual environments, maintaining accurate and up-to-date configurations.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to organizational standards and is easily accessible.
  • Monitor the health of the environment, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Implement monitoring tools and solutions to ensure continuous system availability.
  • Follow existing change management processes to coordinate upgrade activities and testing.
  • Communicate changes clearly and effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, with team members and stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Implement security best practices to protect systems and data from threats.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience with Linux administration, Linux based application support, scripting abilities, proven ability to document and diagram systems.
  • Lifecycle / Patching resource to handle current workload, along with daytime resource for day-to-day Linux administration tasks.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL), SuSE preferred
  • Experience with Package managers like Spacewalk / Oracle Linux Manager
  • Assisting Application and Support teams with troubleshooting and information gathering
  • Monitoring the health of the environment and automating alerting and maintenance tasks
  • Documenting and diagramming the individual environments and maintaining configurations.
  • Follow existing Change Management processes to coordinate upgrade activity and testing
  • Clear communication skills both written and verbal are critical.
